SMS receiving API: authentication, purchases, and order queries
SMSPing's developer API is under /api/customer. Catalog and offer queries are public; business endpoints such as orders and balance use the owning account's API key. Check the developer documentation for current fields, errors, and limits before integrating, and track purchase results together with the order status.
Generate a key and authenticate from your server
Sign in and generate a key in Account Settings under API Management. The complete key is shown once; store it in secure server configuration and send Authorization: Bearer <API_KEY> to business endpoints. Keep keys out of browser code and URLs. Resetting or disabling a key, or changing the password or email, invalidates the old key. A key accesses only its owning account's data.
Fetch an offer, then create the purchase idempotently
Start with GET /api/customer/catalog, then use the returned service and country IDs in /api/customer/catalog/offers. POST /api/customer/orders takes country, service, operator, the latest expectedPrice, and idempotencyKey. Preserve the original key and parameters when retrying the same purchase. If the price changes, fetch a new offer and confirm the new charge. Purchases deduct real account balance.
Query messages and handle limits and final states
HTTP 200 does not prove successful number allocation: inspect data.status. If it is review, retain the order ID and query that order or contact support. Use GET /api/customer/orders/:id for messages, waiting at least five seconds between queries. The current limit is 60 requests per minute per account; follow Retry-After on a 429. Finish after receiving SMS or request cancellation while waiting. Refunds require confirmed cancellation or timeout without SMS. Check the final status and refunded field.
Frequently asked questions
Do catalog queries require an API key?
Catalog and offer endpoints are public. Business endpoints for creating orders and reading your messages, balance, or transactions require a Bearer key in the Authorization header. Check the developer documentation for each endpoint.
Should I use a new idempotency key after a purchase request times out?
Keep the same idempotency key and parameters for the same purchase and check existing orders. A different key may initiate another purchase. Use a new key only for a new, separate operation.
